The truSculpt® iD device is a monopolar RF system designed for hands-free operation. It utilizes up to six RF handpieces connected to a console via cables and adhesive return pads. These handpieces deliver electric current to the treatment area, ensuring deep volumetric heating of the tissue without harming the skin’s surface. Table 1 outlines the key parameters and settings of the device, including handpiece size, RF power, frequency, and skin temperature control.
Study Design
A multi-center pilot study was conducted, enrolling 27 patients aged 18 to 65 with body mass indices (BMI) ranging from 19 to 28. Each patient underwent up to two treatments, with evaluations performed 12 weeks after each session. Measurements of waist circumference and fat thickness reduction were taken, and patient satisfaction was assessed using the Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale (GAIS).
Results
The study yielded promising results, with significant reductions in fat thickness observed among the subset of patients who underwent ultrasound imaging. The three representative patients have noticeable improvements in body contouring achieved with truSculpt® iD treatments. Additionally, GAIS assessments revealed high levels of patient satisfaction, with 87% reporting mild to significant improvement.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the hands-free application of the truSculpt® iD device demonstrates its efficacy in reducing waist circumference and improving body contouring. Patients experienced substantial fat thickness reduction, with outcomes comparable to traditional truSculpt 3D treatments. Moreover, patient satisfaction rates were high, with the majority expressing willingness to recommend truSculpt® iD to others.
